Mark 16

¹And the Sabbath having past, Mary the Magdalene and Mary [the mother] of James and Salome bought spices, so that having come they should anoint Him. ²And very early in the morning on the first [day between the] Sabbaths [fig., the first day of the week; i.e., early Sunday morning], they come [or, go] to the tomb, the sun having risen. ³And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” ⁴Then having looked up, they see that the stone had been rolled away--for it was extremely large. ⁵And having entered into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right, having been clothed in a long, white robe, and they were frightened.

⁶And he says to them, “Stop being frightened! You* seek Jesus the Nazarene, the One having been crucified. He was raised! He is not here! Look [at] the place where they laid Him. ⁷But be going. Say to His disciples and to Peter that He is going before you* to Galilee; there you* will see Him, just as He said to you*.” ⁸And having gone out, they fled from the tomb. But trembling and amazement were holding them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

⁹Now having risen in the early morning on the first [day between the] Sabbaths [fig., the first day of the week; i.e., early Sunday morning], He appeared first to Mary the Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons. ¹⁰That one having gone, told the ones having been with Him, while they were mourning and weeping. ¹¹And those ones, having heard that He is alive and was seen by her, refused to believe.

¹²But after these [things], to two of them, while they are walking about, He was revealed in a different form, while they are going into [the] countryside. [cp. Luke 24:16,31; i.e., Christ did not actually change His appearance, but instead the two men were kept from recognizing Him.] ¹³And those ones having gone, told to the rest, [but] they did not even believe them. [see Luke 24:13-35]

¹⁴Later, while they are reclining [to eat], He was revealed to the eleven, and He denounced their unbelief and stubbornness, because they did not believe the ones having seen Him after He had been raised. ¹⁵And He said to them, “Having gone [or, Go] into all the world, proclaim the Gospel to all the creation. ¹⁶The one having believed and having been baptized will be saved, but the one refusing to believe will be condemned. ¹⁷Now these signs will accompany the ones believing: they will cast out demons in My name; they will speak with new tongues [fig., languages]; ¹⁸they will take up serpents [see Acts 28:3-6], and if they drink anything poisonous, it shall not harm them; they will lay hands on infirm [or, sickly] [people], and they will be well.”

¹⁹So then, after He spoke to them, [the] Lord was taken up into heaven, and He sat at [the] right [parts] [fig., on the right side] of God. ²⁰So having gone out, they preached everywhere, the Lord working with [them] and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. So be it!
