Thoughts on the Assassination of Charlie Kirk

By Gary F. Zeolla

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was fatally shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday [9/10/25] in an apparent political assassination (Breitbart. Charlie Kirk).

Hate and Phobic Speech?

“If you spread hate, you should expect consequences.” I’ve seen this kind of comment on social media by leftists about this assassination. But what “hateful” things did Charlie say? Things like:

There are only two genders, and you cannot change from one to another.

A baby in the womb is a person with a right to life.

Marriage is between a man and a woman.

For these stances, Charlie is being called a homophobe, a transphobe, and many other made-up derogatory terms by leftists, as they celebrate his assassination.

However, the first two are scientific facts, with the right to life for all people asserted in our Declaration of Independence, while the third is what all of humanity believed throughout all of human history before this century and still in most of the world today (with the exception of societies that allowed polygamy, but no society allotted for homosexual marriage).

All three of these points are also biblical. There is nothing hateful or phobic about declaring scientific, historical, and biblical truths.

Interestingly, Charlie was answering a question about transgender violence when he was shot. I just wrote an article about that subject for my Christian newsletter (Volume 23; Number 5). I would bet how I address the issue is similar to how Charlie would have, if he had been able to finish the discussion. I also address and document all three of these points in my series of books on Sex and the Bible.

Of course, Charlie also addressed many more directly political issues, presenting conservative views on immigration, crime, and economic issues, among others.

For the first, he is labeled a racist and xenophobe. But his position was the basic conservative principle that a country should have borders and that there is a difference between legal and illegal immigration. That is also the biblical perspective, which I will demonstrate in a future issue of my Christian newsletter.

Fault for the Assassination and Leftist Violence

Trump correctly mentioned in a video that the fault for the assassination of Charlie Kirk lies at the feet of the radical left and their outlandish comments about conservatives.

“For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals,” said Mr. Trump, who one day earlier had been face-to-face with protesters in Washington who called him Hitler. “This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today” (NYT. At the).

Trump also said it was the “radical left” that commits such atrocities. That makes all of the statements by Democrat leaders saying “political violence has not place in our country” quite hypocritical. It is their heated rhetoric that leads to such violence. Some have even tried to pin Kirk’s assassination on Trump!

NPR News Now, in reporting about Trump’s video, claimed Trump failed to mention about heated rhetoric and violence by conservatives. But that is because most all such rhetoric and violence is by the left, not the right. J6 is the only major incidence of violence by the right that can be cited. Most all of the rest is by the left, as I detailed years ago in my 2018 book Tearing the USA Apart.

In that book I cover the Tree of Life synagogue shooting here in my home area of Pittsburgh, PA, which was committed by a far-left antisemite. I also discuss the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings. Those hearings that became a circus due to baseless sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh were probably the impetus for a latter assassination attempt on his life. I also mention several other less well-known incidents of political violence, all but one by those on the left against those on the right.

Since then, there has been the shooting at a Congressional baseball game, the Antifa/ BLM riots of 2020, two assassination attempts on Trump, the torching of PA Gov. Josh Shapiro’s home (who is a Democrat, but the arsonist was also a far-left antisemite), the killing of the insurance CEO in NYC, the killing of the Jewish couple in DC, Riley Gaines being held hostage on a college campus by transgender activists, the many acts of violence against ICE and border patrol agents (such as the recent [9/12/25] dragging by car of an ICE agent in Chicago), the two trans terrorist attacks against Christian schoolchildren, and now this assassination are all by the left.

The only recent major incident of political violence by the right against the left was the killing and injuring of two Minnesota Democrat lawmakers and their spouses on June 14th of this year (2025).

I cover many of these in my various political writings and the trans terrorists in the aforementioned issue of my Christian newsletter. As for J6, see my series of books on January 6th and related matters .

But to show how despicable the left is, Democrat lawmakers and protestors in Chicago are decrying that ICE agent fatally shooting the fleeing illegal alien in order to save his life rather than decrying the illegal alien for trying to run over ICE agents then dragging one with his car (AP News. ICE). Worse is this is not the first time an ICE agent has been dragged by car by a fleeing illegal alien. But each time, the left is one the side of the illegal not the agent enforcing the law (Fox News. Search).

“Prove Me Wrong”

Charlie had printed on the awning he was under, “Prove Me Wrong.” But the left cannot do that, as Charlie based his arguments on facts, truth, and reality, while all the left has is emotions and fantasy.

I have found that when someone disagrees with someone else but cannot refute his arguments, the embarrassed person often reacts with violence. That has been the source of persecution throughout the centuries. Embarrassed debaters cannot disprove their opponents, so they attack them violently.

But what those persecutors don’t realize is “the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.”

This was said by Tertullian, an early Christian writer and church father from Carthage (c. 155–240 AD), in his work Apologeticus (Chapter 50).

He was defending Christianity against Roman persecution and arguing that suppression only strengthened the faith, as martyrdom inspired greater conviction and growth among believers (Gab AI).

In other words, persecution only increases the viewpoint the persecutors are trying to suppress. I predict this martyrdom of Charlie Kirk will lead to a revival of conservative thought, especially among young people. It will be an eyeopener to them of how very dangerous and illogical leftist views are and how sound and logical conservative views are that they can only be opposed with violence, not with words and logical. That was Charlie’s wife Erika’s message when she spoke to the nation Friday evening (9/12/25):

To everyone listening tonight across America, the movement my husband built will not die. It won’t. I refuse to let that happen. … No one will ever forget my husband’s name. And I will make sure of it. It will become stronger. Bolder. Louder and greater than ever. My husband’s mission will not end. Not even for a moment.

My husband’s voice will remain, and it will ring out louder and more clearly than ever. And his wisdom will endure….

They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith and of God’s merciful love. But they should all know this. If you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country.

Why No Drone?

After Butler, didn’t security learn you need to have drones in the air to look for snipers? That simple action might have prevented both the first assassination attempt on Trump and Charlie Kirk’s assassination. I know security is not going to be as tight for a conservative speaker as for a former president and presidential candidate. But still, a drone with a camera costs what? $50 at Amazon.

Not An “Assault Weapon”

The FBI recovered the weapon that was used. It has been described as “a high-powered, bolt-action rifle.” It was also described as “long-range” and “old-fashioned.” It was also said to be a hunter’s rifle used for its accuracy.

I don’t know much about guns, but that does not sound like an “assault weapon” that the left wants to ban. That means, the proposed leftist gun laws would not have prevented this tragedy.

Charlie’s Family and Faith

Charlie was just 31 when he died. He is is survived by his wife Erika and their two children, a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son. My heart and prayers go out to the now widow and fatherless children. Those poor kids will now have to live their lives with no memory of their father, let alone his presence in their lives.

But at least they can all be comforted that their husband and father is now in a better place. Charlie had a strong Christian faith and said he lived his life to fulfill God’s will for his life, rather than expecting God to fulfill his own will for his life. That is a great and biblical attitude to have (James 4:13-16).

However, it is his very Christian faith has him labeled a “white supremist” or “Christian nationalist” by the left. The latter is the left’s newest made-up derogatory term for those they disagree with and whom they cannot prove wrong.

That skepticism aside, Charlie was bold about his faith:

Moments before his assassination at Utah Valley University (UVU) during an event that was part of “The American Comeback Tour,” Kirk spoke about the Bible. A man who was always open about his connection to faith, Kirk reaffirmed his belief in Jesus Christ, referring to Corinthians verses.

“It’s not just intrabiblical evidence, but extrabiblical evidence that Jesus Christ was a real person. He lived a perfect life, he was crucified, died and rose on the third day, and he is Lord and God over all,” Kirk said while sitting under the very tent where he would be fatally shot (Fox News. Charlie Kirk’s last).

Erika affirmed the same in emotional address about Charlie:

Now and for all eternity, he will stand at His Savior’s side, wearing the glorious crown of a martyr. Charlie loved, loved life. He loved his life. He loved America (adapted from Fox News. Erika).

Charlie is correct there is objective evidence (both biblical and extrabiblical) for the life, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I detail such in my book Trusting Genesis and the Gospels: A Defense of Divine Creation, of the Resurrection of Christ, and of Salvation in Christ. That last point in the subtitle Charlie is now experiencing firsthand. He had trusted in Christ as his Lord and Savior, so his wife can be assured he is in heaven. And she will join him, as she has as well. Do you, the reader, have that assurance? If not, you can trust in Christ right now for the forgiveness of your sins and be assured of eternal life in heaven.

16For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten [or, unique] Son, so that every[one] believing [or, trusting] in Him shall not perish, but shall be having eternal life! [cp. 1John 4:14] 17For God did not send His Son into the world so that He should judge the world, but so that the world shall be saved through Him. 18The one believing [or, trusting] in Him is not judged, but the one not believing already has been judged, because he has not believed in the Name of the only-begotten [or, unique] Son of God (John 3:16-18).

30Now indeed many other signs Jesus also did in the presence of His disciples which have not been written in this scroll. 31But these have been written so that you* shall believe [or, be convinced] that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and so that believing you* shall be having life in His name (John 20:30-31).

8If we should say [or, claim], “We do not have sin,” we lead ourselves astray [fig., deceive ourselves], and the truth is not in us. 9If we shall be confessing our sins, He is faithful [or, trustworthy] and righteous that He shall forgive us our sins and cleanse [or, purge] us from all unrighteousness. 10If we should say [or, claim], “We have not sinned,” we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us (1John 1:8-10).

13These things I wrote to you*, the ones believing [or, trusting] in the name of the Son of God, so that you* shall know that you* have eternal life, and so that you* shall be believing [or, shall continue believing] in the name of the Son of God (1John 4:13; ALT3c).

Suspect Caught and Details on Him

Early Friday morning (9/12/25), Trump announced on Fox and Friends that a suspect had been caught. A press conference at 10:00 am EDT confirmed that was the case.

Tyler Robinson, 22 had been arrested at 10:00 pm MDT the evening before.  Apparently, he confessed to family members, then his father either turned him in or encouraged him to turn himself in. A minister was also involved in the process.

The family said that at a recent family dinner, Tyler was upset about Charlie speaking at UVU. He said Charlie was “full of hate and spreading hate.” That shows Tyler believed the lies of the left about Charlie.

I would bet Tyler had not actually listened to Charlie debate with students. If he had, he would have known Charlie was always very respectful of those he debated with, never showing anything remotely close to “hate” towards them. That means, I am correct in laying the fault for this assassination at the feet of the left and the lies they tell about conservatives.

At the press conference, it was reported there were inscriptions on the gun and ammo. They read as follows:

Hey fascist! Catch! [with up arrow symbol, right arrow symbol, and three down arrow symbols]

If you read this, you’re gay. LMAO

O Bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao.

Notices bulges OwO, what’s this?

The first is apparently the suspect calling Charlie a fascist, snidely telling him to try to catch the bullet. That confirms the Antifa (or at least antifascist) mindset of Tyler. “The arrow symbols may have been a video game reference.”

The second apparently is him calling Charlie a homophobe. That shows Tyler did indeed kill Charlies for his viewpoints.

The third is “is a clear reference to the song ‘Bella Ciao,’ which is idolized in Antifa circles.”  That indicates Tyler has Antifa sympathies.

The fourth “is reportedly a reference to homosexuality associated with ‘furry’ fetishes or attraction to cartoon animals.” That is just plain sick and shows Tyler was a disturbed individual. (details and inscriptions from Breitbart. ‘Bella; Breitbart. Etchings).

The homosexual references put in him in the LGBTQ camp and the rest in the Antifa/ far-left camp. His leftist leanings were confirmed by a friend.

The alleged assassin behind Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s death on September 10 is described by a friend as being “pretty left on everything,” according to a report from the Guardian….

In a phone interview on Friday, one of Tyler Robinson’s high school friends, who asked to remain anonymous, said that the suspect was “pretty left on everything” and was “the only member of his family that was really leftist.”

“The rest of his family was very hard Republican,” the friend said.

Around sophomore year, the friend said, Robinson became more extreme in his political views and would “always just be ranting and arguing about them” (Breitbart. Friend).

Reaction of the Right vs. the Left

During the press conference, Utah Governor Spencer Vox (R) gave a lengthy impassioned speech against political violence. He noted that the reaction to the assassination was not violence, and there had been no riots. Instead, there had bene prayer vigils.

He didn’t specifically say it, but the insinuation was, if this had been a notable leftist figure who was assassinated, there would have been violence in the streets. We know that, as that is how the left always reacts when something happens they don’t like. From the post-Geroge Floyd riots to the ongoing attacks on ICE agents. But the right reacts with prayer, which the left disparages.

But it has been good to hear that many on the left who celebrated Charlie’s assassination are facing repercussions for it, such as being fired or losing business contracts. Though you are free to make any disgusting remarks you want, your employer or business associates are free to cut ties with you if you bring disrepute to their companies.

The Left Has Gone Nuts

At almost the exact moment Charlie Kirk was assassinated, yet another school shooting was occurring in Colorado. A student critically shot two fellow-students then killed himself. Another student was injured in the aftermath. Both of these tragedies occurred the day before the 24th anniversary of 9/11. But remember 9/12? How united we were as Americans? What happened?

The left went nuts. That is my answer to that question. From believing boys can become girls and girls can become boys, to supporting criminals and illegal aliens over American citizens, to calling those they disagree with disparaging names and acting violently against them, the left has lost its way.

But it is my hope and prayer this tragedy and its aftermath will lead to introspection by those on the left, so that we can return to having civil disagreements based on truth, facts, logical arguments, and reality, not fantasy, lies, offensive name calling, and violence.
